Sundown owner says project has two to three phases left
CENTERVILLE — At Monday's Appanoose County Board of Supervisors meeting, Fritz Balsley of Secluded Land Company, which owns the Coves of Sundown Lake development, requested approval of the plat for Phase Six of the project.
Balsley said there would be two, perhaps three, more phases at Sundown. He reported that Lot 110, which contains submerged lots, has now been conveyed. There are lots submerged in the private lake that are not buildable and he said they will be recorded as such.
Auditor Linda Demry said her office will need something that identifies those submerged lots when the deeds are submitted. Balsley said something would be worked out and that the assessor seemed fine with having the properties identified as not buildable when they are recorded.
Balsley said every landowner in the association has unlimited rights to use the lake, so these lots can't be sold to create a "private lakefront." There are 19 lots above water, he added.
The board voted to approve the Phase Six plat.
In other matters, the supervisors approved family farm, homestead and military applications, approved the appointment of Gary Ewing to the Local Sales Tax Oversight Committee (replacing Duane Wood) and the appointment of Jim Underwood to the Compensation Board (replacing Bill Thom).
