The Christmas holiday season officially begins on Nov. 27-28 in Moravia with a wide variety of events.
The Fall Festival Committee will sponsor a soup supper and gift basket sale from 4:30–8 p.m. at the beautifully decorated Community Building. For a free-will donation, guests can enjoy homemade soups and desserts. Mule drawn wagon tours of local holiday lighting displays begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. A Shoppe Hop will be held at nine local businesses from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. both days as well. Christmas shopping begins with the second annual Shopping Gala to be held in the Moravia High School multipurpose room and is sponsored by the Moravia Music Boosters.
On Friday from 1–8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., the Gala will include many area artisans and crafters offering special one-of-a-kind gifts. To reserve a booth, contact Marsha Eastlick at (641) 724-3369.
On Saturday evening, the Tour of Homes committee will host a Progressive Dinner from 5–8 p.m. Diners will enjoy an elegant meal of hors d'oeuvres, salads, a main entree and desserts while traveling to two local homes, the Grace United Methodist Church and the Community Building. Due to limited seating, reservations are required. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased by Nov. 20. For reservations, call Martha Ellison at (641) 724-3784. Proceeds will go to community projects. There will also be a visit with Santa at City Hall so don't forget your cameras!
Moravia is a community rich in traditions, and residents come together to make this holiday weekend a memorable experience with holiday lights, music, activities and special displays of the Christmas season.
