At Monday’s regular meeting, The Appanoose County Board of Supervisors approved a CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy) resolution prepared for the Chariton Valley region of counties that includes Appanoose, Lucas, Wayne and Monroe. The resolution is a request to the EDA (Economic Development Administration) that basically states that Appanoose County is a member of the Chariton Valley region in regards to economic development priorities and strategies.

The board accepted the resignation of Susanne Ballanger from the auditor’s office and moved to replace her with Cheryl Piatt on an as-needed basis.

The supervisors also approved the promotion of Shawn Oden to brush cutter operator for the Secondary Roads Department and Tony Caraccio from part-time to full-time as a jailer at the Law Center.

A resolution to approve grant applications for watershed repairs passed while the board set a public hearing for Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. regarding a transfer easement for Lot 53, block 8 of Lakeshore Heights.

The county changed the classification of a level B road to level A in the Coblentz/Derby shire near the state line. Dean Kaster, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, commented that both families had donated funds in order to upgrade the road to level A.

The next regular Appanoose County Board of Supervisors meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 20 at 9 a.m. at the courthouse.
