Two 19-year-olds law enforcement officials believe have been responsible for a "crime spree" have been arrested, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office press release issued Aug. 14.

Gabriel McQueen, of Chariton and Kevin Donald Allen, of Seymour, have each been charged with six counts of third degree burglary and one count of second degree theft and are currently being held in the Wayne County Jail. More charges are pending as the investigation continues, the release states.

During the investigation, authorities uncovered a large methamphetamine lab at 30839 Pleasanton Road in Davis City in Decatur County. Also found at that location was a large amount of stolen property allegedly linking McQueen to more than a half a dozen burglaries.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office arrested Matthew McLain, 46, of 30839 Pleasanton Road on drug charges.

Authorities uncovered an ATV reportedly stolen from Eric and Jennifer Couchman, tools and a generator reportedly stolen from Sheriff Keith Davis, lumber and building supplies reportedly stolen from Earl and Marge Hopkins, electrical tools reportedly stolen from Watts Electric, a chainsaw reportedly stolen from Jan Hysell plus property reportedly stolen from Bill and Joan Byrns, of Allerton and numerous other property that had been reported as stolen. Authorities also are linking damage to mail boxes and mail in Wayne County to the crime spree.

The investigation has allegedly linked Allen to three acts of vandalism of the Jones Church in the Southfolk Township in Wayne County.

McQueen was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 11 after a Wayne County deputy sheriff made a traffic stop at 150th and Raccoon, one mile east of Highway 14. McQueen was driving a 1986 red Ford pickup with a reportedly stolen green ATV in the back, which started the investigation.

Assisting the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in the investigation and searches were the Corydon Police Department and the Decatur County Sheriff's Office.
