Cell tower constructed in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Iowa – As part of an ongoing program to expand its network in Iowa, U.S. Cellular recently completed construction of a cell tower in northwest Cincinnati.

The site will provide improved coverage in Cincinnati, along Iowa Highway 5 from Missouri to Centerville and for the surrounding rural area. The new tower is part of a statewide network of more than 680 U.S. Cellular cell sites.

“U.S. Cellular is committed to providing the best possible service for our customers,” said Rick Thompson, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Iowa. “The number and location of cell sites makes a big difference in the network. Customers now rely on their cell phones while out and about, as well as in their homes and at work. This site will allow us to continue giving users the great service they expect from U.S. Cellular.”

U.S. Cellular has a team of engineers who continually test the area for network quality, review network data and respond to customer feedback to determine locations for new cell sites. Each site provides coverage and calling capacity for an area. When a customer makes a call, the U.S. Cellular phone transmits the caller’s voice to the nearest cell site, which then sends the call through the telephone network, where it is delivered to the receiver.

U.S. Cellular made a $52.3 million network investment in 2007 that included the addition of 33 cell sites across Iowa.
