Centerville man pleads guilty to involvement in kidnapping case



George Adam Vasalofsky, 34, of Centerville, with Judge Annette J. Scieszinski presiding in the Monroe County Courthouse, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to a class C felony, conspiracy to commit a felony. Sentencing is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 24 in the Appanoose County Courthouse.

Vasalofsky was one of five people accused of kidnapping and torturing Justin Downs, of Centerville for one week in February of this year. The other four — Tamara Marie Carter, 23, Mae Lee Keel, 19, Emile Herve Morin III, 36, all of Centerville and Kevin James Sindt, 23 of Unionville, Mo., — are charged with first-degree kidnapping and have a pretrial conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 17 and a Sept. 1 trial date.
