Des Moines – Governor Chet Culver signed Senate File 2432 that included nearly $5 million for the Honey Creek Resort Project along Rathbun Lake in Appanoose County. The Governor signed the legislation, also known as the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund, at a special ceremony today in Fort Madison.
“As Governor, I am committed to doing whatever necessary to revitalize our cities and help our state grow, and this legislation will do just that,” said Governor Culver. “I am proud to sign Senate File 2432, which will provide new funding for the Honey Creek Resort. These dollars will bring new visitors to the shores of Rathbun Lake, and give people from all across the Midwest new opportunities to enjoy Iowa’s land, lakes, rivers and streams we all love.”
Honey Creek Resort Lodge is Iowa’s first destination park. Located in northern Appanoose County, the $4.9 million investment will be used to build single-family cabins. The park is slated to open in August of this year.
