Published April 16, 2008 11:14 am - There are a few changes in the city curb side clean up this year which will begin next Monday, April 21. Because of new regulations, the City of Centerville will be unable to pick up microwaves, televisions and computers/monitors at the curb this year.
Citywide cleanup begins next week
There are a few changes in the city curb side clean up this year which will begin next Monday, April 21. Because of new regulations, the City of Centerville will be unable to pick up microwaves, televisions and computers/monitors at the curb this year. Those items will be accepted for a fee at Rathbun Area Solid Waste transfer station located at 3020 McCarty Street in the Industrial Park.
The cost for disposal of microwaves and televisions is $10 and computer monitors can be disposed of for $5. The hours for Rathbun Area Solid Waste are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.
Other items not accepted curbside are batteries, tires, hazardous or toxic waste, yard waste, construction materials and garbage. If any of these items are left at the curb, they will not be picked up by city crews.
Details for the city appliance and furniture pickup are as follows:
North side of town--Everything must be curbside by 7 a.m. on April 21.
Pick up will occur on April 21 and 22.
Pick up for the square will be Monday April 21. All items must be in the alley by 7 a.m.
South side of town—Everything must be curbside by 7 a.m. on April 23.
Pick up will occur on April 23 and 24.
No return trips once articles have been picked up
No pilfering allowed.
Items not accepted include computers and monitors, televisions, microwaves, batteries, tires, yard waste (i.e. lawn clippings, leaves), tree limbs, hazardous or toxic waste, construction materials, garbage
Mattresses, carpeting, sofas and chairs must be wrapped in plastic.
Appliances will be picked up after all other items have been picked up.
There will be no alley pick up (except the square).
