Congressman Dave Loebsack willing to compromise

Daily Iowegian

CENTERVILLE — Dear Editor,

Almost everyone in Congress seems to be completely unwilling to compromise to get things done. This past year nothing has gotten done, and we have seen political stalemate after political stalemate. We need more people in Congress like Dave Loebsack, who is willing to reach across the aisle to work on getting America back on track.

Dave isn't afraid to reach across the aisle to look for bipartisan solutions. The most recent example of this is his work on extending the Bush Tax Cuts. Both sides have staked out territory of what they are willing to extend and not extend, but Dave has stood up and said that nothing is going to get done if business continues as usual. To move things forward, Dave introduced his own bill that would extend the tax cuts for the lower- and middle- incomes, family farms, and small business owners. His bill represents a compromise between the two extremes.

If more people were willing to work with the other side to move our economy and our recovery forward, we wouldn't have to be frustrated by this "Do Nothing" Congress.
