Mean parents, or is it just harmless fun?

By Michael Schaffer Managing Editor
The Daily Iowegian

---- — The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the recent request made by Jimmy Kimmel to have parents lie to their children by telling them they had eaten all of their Halloween candy. This caused children to start screaming and crying.

So, the question of the week is, “Are the parents who participated in the stunt guilty of child abuse? Or was it just harmless fun?”

Go to the Daily Iowegian website, www.dailyiowegian.com, and scroll down the home page to POLL on the right hand side and cast your vote. Or call the Iowegian office at (641) 856-6336 or email the editor at iowegianeditor@mchsi.com to cast a vote.

Vote on the Question of the Week up until Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 12 p.m. The results will be published in the Thursday, Nov. 21 paper along with a new question.

Here are the results from the last poll question: “Has the Affordable Care Act health insurance exchange worked for you?”

A. Yes. I now have health care insurance because of the ACA exchange received 16 votes.

B. Yes. I had health care insurance but I found a similar, cheaper policy on the exchange received nine votes.

C. Yes. In some fashion other than offered here as an option to vote for received 19 votes
