Upset after family dog shot
Dear editor,
Apparently it is dog hunting season, bet the Humane Society would vote for that. On Sunday, June 29, 2008, a heartless person shot a family friend at Dean Bottoms. I’m not sure why you would have done such a horrific thing to begin with, but I’m sure you do not have any feelings for any living creature to have done what you did. Apparently you don’t have any children or grandchildren close to have ever had an animal they were close to.
One, I know you couldn’t have felt threatened by this creature, as she never has even growled at anyone or anything. And she was probably wagging her tail and sniffing your feet when you decided to do this unthinkable crime. She had to have been pretty close to you in order to have done the damage you did to her, entry wound two inches and exit wound six inches, must have been a high powered rifle.
I know you couldn’t have been hunting and it was just a stray bullet, as she was scared to death when she would hear gun shots in the timber or even thunder. What you didn’t take into consideration was that not only was she a child’s pet, but she came home injured so her family could see how cruel people can be. It would be a little hard to claim you mistaking her for another animal, as she was pure white, fat, short and had a long wagging tail. What else could look like that, a deer, fox, coyote, bird, squirrel, raccoon or a possum? Not that, that would be a good excuse anyway, as if that were the case, then it could have been a human you could have shot. If your eyesight isn’t any better than that, especially as close as she had to been to you. And to think the Constitution says freedom to bare arms, obviously not everyone should fall into this.
I know one day God will give you what you deserve for doing this heartless act, but unfortunately I am left to explain to a child why someone would do such an awful thing to a friendly, family pet. Hope you can sleep better at night knowing the outcome.
