Against odor study bill

Dear editor,
A terrible bill was passed at the very end of this year’s legislative session. The odor study bill, HF 2688, had strong public opposition throughout the session, but some lawmakers were more concerned about catering to the factory farm industry than they were to listening to their voters.
As a member of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, I’d like to thank the lawmakers that voted against this terrible bill, especially those that spoke out against this bill when it was debated on the floor.
Legislators such as Rep. Mark Kuhn, Rep. Mary Mascher, Rep. Mary Gaskill, Rep. Mark Smith, Rep. Mike May, Rep. John Whitaker, Rep. Marcie Frevert, Sen. Joe Bolkcom and Sen. Herman Quirmbach deserve to be recognized for standing up for the people of Iowa and for not caving in to pressure from big money interests.
