---- — The B.V. Sodbusters 4-H club met on April 21 at the Extension Office with 17 members and 13 visitors present. The club had a fundraiser and sold Finley Grace wickless candles and cookie dough. Money was given to the top seller of the candles, which went to Addie Zaputil. The top sellers of the cookie dough were Kathryn Carlyle, Kylee Joiner and McKinley McClure.
The club voted on different decorations for the county fair and the theme will be Country Western. They also voted to go to Adventureland on June 1 for their summer activity.
Treats and drinks were provided by Brenton Willier. Presentations were given by Kathryn Carlyle on her horse, Heaven Ingram on her dog, Thatcher Carel on acoustic levitation, Cessna Stufflebeem on salamanders, David Kurner on honey bees and Montana and Dallas Walker on their hedgehog.
On April 28 at 4 p.m. they met at the Extension Office and made May baskets for the residents at Maple Grove Assisted Living. The May baskets were filled with candy, lotion and flowers.
On May 5 they met at the Extension Office and went on their farm tours. The club went to Thatcher Carel’s and saw his lambs that he will be bringing to the fair, then they went to Lizzy and David Kumer’s and saw their honey bee’s. The club also went to Tanner and Jayleigh Swarts too see their bottle calf and calves. Then they went to Jeremiah McGrann’s and saw his rabbits, chickens and cat that he will bring to the fair too. After the farm tours, club members went to Pizza Hut for a meeting and food.
The club voted on a T-shirt design for the fair and signed up for the Adventureland trip.
On May 11 at 2 p.m. club members went to Centerville Nursing and Rehab and brought in some small animals for the residents to see and then they played bingo for prizes. The club went to the fairgrounds and planted flowers afterwards.
The next meeting will be on June 23 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office
