---- — Centerville Produce celebrated its move to a new facility not much more than 50 yards south of their old location with a grand opening Saturday, Nov. 2 that featured food, music, animal rides and special deals.

Centerville Produce is now located at 1209 S. 18th St. just a stone’s throw from the building they occupied since the 1960s.

Centerville Produce owner, Ryan Stober, during the grand opening, said the new facility is great and brings a different atmosphere to showcase their products. Indeed, Centerville Produce now has a 6,000 square-foot facility versus the 900 square-foot facility they just vacated.

“I think it’s a really neat atmosphere the way it was designed and finished,” Stober said of the new facility.

The new facility is almost split with 2,800 square-feet in showroom and 3,200 square-feet in retail warehouse, Stober said.

Other improvements with the new facility include expanded parking, more user, customer friendly and indoor loading.

Centerville Produce has been a part of Centerville since 1954 when it was located near the Square on East State Street before it relocated to the Levee in the 1960s. Stober purchased the business from his grandfather in 1995.

“We’re just a family-owned business that’s grown and continues to grow,” Stober said during an interview in August. “And this will be more convenient for our customers and it will allow us to showcase the products that we carry and make things easier for us, to.”

The grand opening offered food cooked by the Appanoose County Cattlemen’s and served by local FFA members.

Music was performed by The Harvest Band consisting of Tom Robinson, Jim Robinson and Mark Bailey. The Harvest Band has been together for 30 years and has performed locally at the Wine Festival and the WHO Great Tractor Ride.

Animal rides were offered in the parking lot by Heart for Hooves Rescue Inc. out of Mystic.
