DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey recognized Cole Alexander of Cincinnati for providing the artwork that appears on November of the “From Farm to You” calendar that was distributed by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship at the Iowa State Fair.

The calendar includes artwork from students across the state that emphasizes the connection between the production of Iowa’s farmers and the products used by people everyday.

“Iowa’s rich soil and vast landscape has made Iowa one of the most productive areas for food and livestock production in the world for centuries,” Northey said. “These students are helping to breakdown the idea that food and other agriculture products grow in grocery stores, not on farms, they deserve to be commended for their efforts.”

Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Karey Claghorn presented the students with a certificate recognizing their selection. Additional copies of the calendars are available by contacting the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship at 515/281-5321.
