4-H Clubs hold meetings

Happy-Go-Luckies

The Happy-Go-Luckies 4-H group met June 8 at the Extension Office. Susan Cole called the meeting to order. Six members answered roll call and the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s balance was given.

Iris Hayslett led the Pledge of Allegiance. Old business was discussed regarding the logo contest going on and the State Youth Conference at I.S.U.

New business concerned signing up for county fair duties, the Communication Event, the Clothing Event, and extra June meeting to clean up vandalism done at the fairgrounds, a reminder to pre-enter all animals that need a stall or pen and horse project meetings.

Mrs. Cole gave a teaching session on “Design Elements and Art Principles.”

Angela Miller adjourned the meeting and Elizabeth Greenwood seconded it. Casey Schmell led in the 4-H pledge.

Dandy Doers

The Dandy Doers 4-H Club met June 8 at the Plano Christian Church. There were 14 members present. The meeting started by discussing the previous meeting that was led by Katie Busch.

Then a discussion was held about helping with the Iowa State Fair with “Little Hands on the Farm.” The group voted and a majority was interested in helping.

Unfinished business regarded signing up for hours to help in the food stand or watching the exhibits.

Announcements concerned the Fairground Cleanup Schedule, the “Wash Your Hands” poster contest and that the Clothing Selection and Fashion Revue would be held July 10 in the exhibit building.

The meeting ended with Evelyn Rodger’s presentation on a scrapbook she was working on and Tabby Long’s presentation on Webkins.

The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were provided by Shelby Royer and Molly Heffron.
