Centerville welcomes new teachers and administrators

The Centerville School District has hired four brand new teachers and administrators for the 2013-2014 school year. The will be joining both the elementary and secondary schools in the district. They are Sharon Brice, Lindsey Pettibone, Megan Kirkland and Greg Fisher.

Sharon Brice

Sharon Brice will be teaching Algebra I at Centerville High School. She graduated from Centerville High School and then received an Associate of Arts degree from Indian Hills Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Graceland University.

Brice is married to Jack Brice and has two children, Josh Brice and Chrissy Skahill.

She said she enjoys gardening and reading in her spare time and is most looking forward to interacting with students and helping them gain confidence and a love of learning.

Lindsey Pettibone

Lindsey Pettibone will be starting as a special education teacher at Lakeview Elementary. She is originally from Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School in 2000. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Buena Vista University and is working on her master’s degree from Morningside College.

She currently lives in Moravia with her husband, Paul, and two children. Her son Kyler is nine and her daughter, Emersyn, is four. Pettibone said in her free time she enjoys golfing, being outside, reading and watching Hawkeye football.

Pettibone said that she loves that all students are capable of learning and she loves seeing achievements being made whether they are big or small.

Megan Kirkland

Megan Kirkland will be joining the district as the K-2 school counselor and will also serve as a TAG teacher. She is originally from Centerville but has lived in Danville the last seven years.

She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Iowa Wesleyan College and received her endorsement in gifted education from the University of Iowa. She earned a master’s degree in school counseling from the University of West Alabama.
