Nearly 200 students perform at grade school concert

CENTERVILLE — The Lakeview Elementary School hosted their third-fifth grade choir and band concerts Tuesday night at Simon Estes Auditorium.

The third grade choir opened the performance with three songs by John Jacobson and Mark Brymer: "Beat, Beat, Beat," "In the Spring" and "Swing Batta Batta!"

Next the fifth grade band, directed by Mark Taylor, took the stage to play "Let the Journey Begin!," "Mi Casa Es Su Casa," "Mojo," "The Blues!," "Excitation March" and Attack of the Slide Trombones."

The fourth grade choir sang "Follow the Drinking Gourd," "Allegiance Rap," "My Flag" and "Music Is Always There."

The fifth grade choir, directed by Susan Cole, performed "Hush! Somebody's Callin' My Name," "Feelin' Jazzy," "Why Music? (Did You Know?)" and "I Like to Sing (Scat)."

The combined choirs from the fourth and fifth grades performed "I Hope the Teacher Won't Call on Me!" together to end the night.

Nearly 200 students from the Centerville Community School District took part in the performances.
