Call Gary Golic at 641-856-2684 for more information. Cincinnati Alumni Banquet to be held May 24 By Patty Timmens – Cincinnati correspondent This is one of my favorite recipes. It came from the area in California known as Apple Hill. The Apple Hill ranches are located north of Highway 50 between Placerville and Pollock Pines, about 1 hour east of Sacramento and 1 hour west of South Lake Tahoe. I spent several pleasant days there eating my way through the area. This recipe is best of course if you use apples from Apple Hill but since that might be impossible for us here in Iowa, I want you to know I have made this with apples I got right here and the cake is wonderful.
Apple Hill Cake 2 c sugar 1/2 c oil or Crisco 2 eggs 4 c diced apples, peeled 2 c flour 1 t salt 1 t baking powder 1 t nutmeg 2 t soda 2 t cinnamon
If desired you can add 1 cup chopped nuts and/or 1 cup raisins.
