A Chevrolet Camaro driven by Martin Durflinger, 23, Ottumwa, was westbound on Old Highway 34 "at a high rate of speed." The vehicle missed a curve and slammed into a light pole. The collision rolled the car several times.

Two passengers, Robbie Abel, 23, Hedrick and Harry Blodgett, 21, Brighton, were ejected in the crash. They, along with Durflinger, were pronounced dead at Jefferson County Hospital.

The patrol says it is continuing to investigate the crash.
