VIDEO: TV weather forecaster meltdowns

A silver lining in the harsh weather that much of the country experiences throughout the year is the amusement provided by TV meteorologists as they forecast and cover such events. Here are some examples.

'Oh boy...'

Jim Kosek, the chief meteorologist at KTVX in Salt Lake City, has been described by Business Insider as “the Bill O’Reilly of weather.” While working for AccuWeather.com, his forecast of a winter storm along the East Coast provided some context for that label.

Thunder snow

While covering a blizzard in Chicago for The Weather Channel in 2011, Jim Cantore was got quite a surprise while reporting live.

Short-tempered meteorologist

As Hurricane Katrina closed in on New Orleans in 2005, CNN meteorologist Chad Myers lost his cool with anchor Carol Costello.

Falling down on the job

A weatherman for Boston-area TV station WCVB found the conditions in a 2011 snowstorm more daunting than he expected.

'Arctic chill'

Jimmy Kimmel recently devoted part of his monologue to ridiculing the weather reporting of some Los Angeles-area TV stations as temperatures in the region “plunged” below 60 degrees.
