Asking for a chance

The Daily Iowegian

---- — Dear Editor,

In retrospect to our latest council meeting. I wanted to shed some light on some things stated about me personally by our chief of police, Tom Demry.

As for the accusation of having a weapons charge. Well, when I was 16 me and Mitchell Keep (sorry Mitch) were as we say it around here, road hunting rabbits with a .22 rifle and got charged with manner of conveyance for having a loaded gun in the front seat of a vehicle.

Typical southern Iowa boy stuff, as I would call it.

The statement of having drug charges. Well, I’ve had a drug charge, possession of marijuana seven years ago, a simple misdemeanor. Putting the “S” at the ends of the charge makes it look way worse.

I have had two OWI’s, which isn’t something to be proud of nor is the assault charges I’ve had. But people do change and we all should have the right to better our lives.

I haven’t shot anyone. I’m not a terrorist or a gangster, just a guy wanting to run a legit business as a third generation bar owner.

This bump in the road will cost me about $1,000. And I’ve spent $3,400 in licenses and insurance just to be told “No, you can’t run your business.”

All I’m asking is for a chance. Put me on a probation period or something.

Yours truly

Danny Moore
