OSKALOOSA — Beth Danowsky provided the Oskaloosa City Council with an update on the U.S. 63 Corridor Location Study at Monday’s regular meeting.

During her presentation, Danowsky talked of a transportation study done in 2009 to 2011 and also noted that a portion of Highway 63 had made it on to the Commercial Industrial Network in August 2012.

Danowsky also provided the city council with a number of slides illustrating pertinent information related to Highway 63 including a topographical map.

The accident rate on Highway 63 was also discussed by Danowsky, as well as the high amount of truck traffic on the roadway.

The important roll Highway 63 plays for local industries also garnered some discussion from Danowsky. She noted that the condition of the roadway can have a negative impact on the productivity of local industries.

The need for improvements on Highway 63 is expected to grow, noted Danowsky.
