OSKALOOSA — The 12th annual Greater Southeast Iowa Fall Tractor Ride came rolling back into Oskaloosa Friday afternoon.

The tractor ride began in Oskaloosa on Wednesday and returned to town Friday after covering 210 miles.

Ninety-two tractors were entered in the ride. Most of the drivers were from central Iowa, but there was one driver from Illinois, one from Texas, one from California and once from Kentucky, ride promoter Lee Clark said.

In order to enter the tractor ride, a tractor has to be at least 30 years old, Clark said. There are three speed classes for the tractors — 18 mph, 14 mph and 10 mph, Clark said.

The ride took participants from Oskaloosa to Barnes City, Brooklyn and Gilman the first day. The group stopped overnight in Grinnell. The second day, the participants traveled to Vinton, Marengo and Brooklyn again before staying overnight in Grinnell. The final day’s route took riders to Kellogg, Sully and New Sharon before returning to Oskaloosa.

Next year, the tractor ride will have a three-day trip that hubs in Decorah, Clark said. There will be a spring tractor ride too, and it will start in Fremont, he added.

Dave Denly, of Richland, has been on all the tractor rides. He enjoyed this year’s trip.

“Very nice. We had pretty country, good roads,” he said. “The food was excellent and our facilities in Grinnell were excellent.”

“It was a good ride — a fun time,” Denly said.
