The good news? The week will end warmer than it started.
The bad news? The weather may be just as disruptive.
Friday’s forecast includes a new front moving through southern Iowa. It will bring warmer air, which is good. But area residents could also see freezing rain as it passes through.
The biggest risk of freezing rain is before noon on Friday for Centerville and Ottumwa. Knoxville, Pella and Oskaloosa should see mostly rain until things cool off enough overnight to change over to snow and some sleet.
In areas that do see freezing rain, the ice is expected to be no more than about a tenth of an inch, though that could change.
Forecasters with the Iowa Storm Chasing Network expect rain to be the big headline. Up to three-quarters of an inch is expected with the system, an unusually high amount for this time of year.
The headaches associated with this system should be short-lived. By Sunday temperatures are expected to rebound to near 40.
