Centerville woman’s dream comes true as she opens her own pet salon
By Julie Clark - Sports editor
A dream came true for Kathy Cochran and Precious Pets Salon and Spa recently. Cochran, who has been grooming dogs for almost four years, took a leap and has adventured out on her own, opening her Precious Pets Salon and Spa on North 12th.
Cochran decided a few years back that she wanted to get more involved with something that she truly loved, working with animals. From there she trained with a lady in South Dakota that has been grooming dogs for over 15 years and she took online classes and became a licensed groomer. She practiced on dogs for awhile before starting her business and up until recently she had worked with others. "I have always wanted to have my own business. It seemed like a good time to expand," said Cochran.
"I love animals and have taken in rescues," said Cochran. "It was something that I had always wanted to do."
Cochran has a full salon and spa that is sure to please any dog. Ginger Hindley washes the dogs and Cochran grooms them. "They get only the best treatment and can come in for a trim or a full cut with nail polish bandannas and bows, the works," said Cochran.
Cochran also is planning to expand even more, offering snuggle pups (like snuggies), perfumes and in the future homemade doggie treats. She is also planning to get a television so that the pets are able to catch the news while they are being pampered.
Precious Pets Salon and Spa is opened Tuesday-Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and walkins are welcome.
