CENTERVILLE — Sheriff Gary D. Anderson was re-elected as the Appanoose County Sheriff Tuesday night with 65.4% of the votes cast.
Anderson's unofficial vote count was 4,002. Cliff Jones' count was 2,089. Write-in candidate Brian Meeker received 29 votes.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan won in Appanoose County. However, CNN and the Associated Press declared that Barack Obama had the necessary 270 electoral votes to regain election Tuesday night.
Romney recorded 3,153 unofficial votes to Obama's 2,934.
Dave Loebsack won Appanoose County for the U.S. Representative District 2 with 3,005 votes. Ken Rozenboom won Appanoose County with 3,145 votes for State Senator District 40. Larry Sheets picked up 3,186 votes to win Appanoose County in the Iowa State Representative District 80 seat.
Jody McDanel and Neal Smith picked up the two Appanoose County Board of Supervisors seats. McDanel had 3,023 votes and Smith had 2,831 votes.
Linda Demry won re-election while unopposed with 4,905 votes.
David L. Kauzlarich, Sharon Redinbaugh and Carl Miller picked up the three spots on the Appanoose County Soil & Water Conservation board. Kauzlarich had 3,376 votes, Redinbaugh had 3,267 votes and Carl Miller had 3,115 votes.
Four seats were up for grabs for the Appanoose County Agriculture Extension Council, however only two ran for the position. Loretta McClintock had 3,888 votes and Franz Lunenow had 2,710 votes. There were 21 votes for write-in candidates, but the names of those candidates were not known as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.
