Burn ban still in effect for Appanoose County

CENTERVILLE — While some precipitation has fallen in April, conditions are still too dry for those in Appanoose County to burn.

The burn ban was officially put into effect on April 1 at 8 a.m. by the Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office. The ban will be in place indefenitely, until local fire officials deem conditions improve enough to allow open burning.

Iowa Code 100.40 covers the burn bans issued by the state fire marshall. Violations of the burn bans can be punishable by a simple misdemeanor charge.
