4:53 p.m. Cliff Allen Lowe, 37, of Udell, was charged with third degree harassment. He was later released on his own recognizance.
4:11 p.m. An accident was reported on Highway 2. Anna Marie Scott, 29, of Udell, was driving a 1998 Mercury eastbound on Highway 2 and attempted to make a left turn onto 272nd Avenue. Scott failed to use a turn signal. Michael Alan Bennett, 52, of Donnellson, was driving a 2005 Dodge eastbound on Highway 2 and was attempting to pass Scott’s vehicle in a passing zone. Scott’s vehicle hit Bennett’s vehicle. Damage to Scott’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500. Damage to Bennett’s vehicle was estimated at $250. Scott was charged with failure to give a continuous turn signal.
7:46 a.m. An accident was reported on Highway 2. Carl Arnold Peel, 47, of Centerville, was driving a 1993 Dodge eastbound on Highway 2. Lynn Eugene Monson, 65, of Centerville was driving a 2006 Ford westbound on Highway 2. Monson’s vehicle turned into a driveway in front of Peel’s vehicle causing the vehicles to collide. Damage to Peel’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000. Damage to Monson’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Monson’s mailbox was also damaged.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Report
Corydon Police arrested John Charles Poston, 53, of Corydon on a Wayne County warrant for harassment. The charge was in connection with an incident in Corydon July 8. Poston appeared before the magistrate the following day and was released on his own recognizance.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ellen Irene Smith, 43, of Allerton, on a charge of domestic abuse assault following an incident at an Allerton residence. Smith appeared before the magistrate the following day and was released on her own recognizance.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Troy Robert McCombs, 40, of Montezuma, following a traffic stop on J22 west of Humeston. McCombs was charged with possession with intent to deliver more than five grams of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The following day, additional charged of operating while intoxicated, failure to affix the appropriate stamp to the drug and failure to show proof of insurance were filed against McCombs. McCombs appeared before the magistrate on all charges and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $105,000 bond.
Two Derby residents were arrested after they were observed in a vehicle in the Humeston Lake Park after closing hours. The driver, Kyler Eugene Gregory, 18, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while intoxicated, no driver’s license and failure to show proof of insurance. The passenger, Raina Dawn Hoover, 19, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both appeared before the magistrate the following day and were released on their own recognizance.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gordon Howard Henkelvig, 61, of Allerton, on a Wayne County warrant for contempt of court. Henkelvig appeared before the magistrate the following day and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $6,500 bond.
