Work on Depot continues

Warmer weather allowed volunteers to get back to work on renovating the VFW Hall in Centerville Monday. Volunteer Josh Hart excavates dirt behind the Depot with help from Kyler Risher, in orange, under the supervision of Jack Kennelly, who is overseeing all the work being done to fix the brick work around the Depot. This section of work will extend the concrete wall, pictured at bottom right, across the back of the building. Eventually, the wall will be extended all the way around the Depot. Kennelly said they are doing the work in small chunks to minimize the amount of ground that has to be dug up at one time. The work is being done with the help of volunteers and donations. Those interested in donating to the project are encouraged to contact the VFW Hall.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about rental permit fees. The Centerville City Council has conducted two working sessions and a third one is planned in order to get a feel for the public's appetite about raising rental permit fees from charging a landlord $25 every two years to charging a certain amount per rental unit per year. So, the question of the week is, "Are you in favor of Centerville increasing rental permit fees?"

A. I'm in favor.
B. I'm not in favor.
C. I'm not sure.
