CENTERVILLE — Centerville High School Ag students went on their annual fishing trip to Lelah Bradley Park Reservoir on Oct. 23. Members present were Josie Oden, Troy Cassady, Danielle Earnhardt, Hunter Moore, Makenna Pershy, Ally Logsdon, Jessica Bratz, John Duley, Dalton Mosely, Jeremiah McGrann along with FFA Advisor and FishIowa instructor Elizabeth  Gaskins.  These students have all taken or are taking  Gaskin’s natural resources class at Centerville High School.

They had guest speakers from the Watershed Management and Fisheries Management divisions of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

They did water quality testing, species identification, fished, did some shore clean-up, and cooked a lunch of hush puppies, french fries and fish.

The class received a $500 mini grant from the Department of Natural Resources to put on this fishing trip.

The money helped to cover Gaskins' substitute for the day along with buying five fishing poles, a tackle box and the food for the trip.

Centerville FFA members participated in the Kirkwood/Linn Mar Horse Judging contest on Oct. 17.

Those members competing were Josie Oden (senior), Trey McCoy (freshman), Kirsten Brauman (freshman) and Evelyn Rogers (freshman).  They placed 19th out of 65 teams.
