Make Christmas special

The Daily Iowegian

---- — There are no limits to caring. The Exline Ramblers wanted to rethink Christmas and make it about giving back. They wanted to carry out their theme for this year, “Happy, Happy, Happy,” from “Duck Dynasty.”

On Saturday, Dec. 7 the Ramblers visited the Continental Care Center in Seymour and volunteered about three hours of their time. While there they decorated the residents’ doors, served the dinner and ate with the residents, cleaned up the dinner, sang songs (led by Mariah Clawson), and provided all of decorations, and the residents with fleece blankets and lotions. The Ramblers also purchased the hams for the dinner. The meals are homemade and the care center agreed to accept the hams for the meal, along with the ham they prepared homemade bread, party potatoes, green beans with bacon and onions, buttered corn and banana cake.

To add extra entertainment Mackenzey and Logan Fogle brought along their Golden Retriever for the residents to enjoy.

The care center residents also helped contribute to the day’s success making the ribbon decorations and resident, Tom Micetich, was a hit playing his musical instruments for the Ramblers enjoyment.

The Ramblers had a lot of help from the likes of Rhonda Hedgecock, Debbie Tait, Mrs. Winkel’s, Larry and Sharon Bettis and Seymour Continental Care Center Director Tonya Logsdon and the entire staff in their partnership in the “Day of Caring.”

The Ramblers received many positive comments from the residents and staff.
